Memoir Project
Just like the book House on Mango Street, we created vignettes that related to our life. We created a book similar to House on Mango Street. We wrote vignettes with pictures, so people who read it will understand each short story. I enjoyed parts of this project because I was able to tap into my inner self and discover interesting things about myself. I knew who I was before, but discovered new kinds of talents that I never thought about. Each link will take you to my vignettes:
The GREEKTHEATER project, The writing process:
For this project, we had to create a play. My group's play was called ''The 16th Minute.'' This is the summary:
The 16th minute
Our play is set in a modern day Hollywood. The main characters are Jake Williams, the son of a famous movie studio executive that's had everything handed to him, and knows the effects of fame that can happen, and doesn’t stop to think about his actions. And his friend Chad Cooper, who is desperate for attention and fame. Chad is offered a main role in a failing movie from Jakes dad's company for little money. Jake hears about this and tries to convince Chad not to take the job as it is filled with stunts that are not being safely done due to the lack of budget the production has. Later, Chad gets injured while filming and is fired from the movie for not being able to act. Weeks later, Chad finds out he was put into an embarrassing magazine article and feels annoyed because it was not the kind of fame he wanted. Chad and Jake then get into an argument about how he shouldn’t have been in the movie. Later, Chad is asked to be interviewed about his injury and starts saying incriminating information about how Jake is cheating on his girlfriend, even though this information isn’t true. Jake then gets into another fight with Chad, after the fight, they break up as best friends and Chad gets a call from Jake’s dad, dangerous saying that these rumors are affecting his career. Jake finally decides to commit suicide, and blames Chad for doing this to him, making him feel terrible. He then blames a paparazzi for Jake’s death and beats one up, ruining his career. This story is about the effects of fame and letting it get to your head.
